As Waterdrinker, we are working to
create a happy and healthy living environment using flowers and plants. Our aim
is that more and more people will begin to realise the importance of greenery
in their environment. So investing in sustainability is only natural, and fully
in keeping with our vision.
Together with the trading companies of
the Dutch Flower Group, we support the IMPACT25 sustainability programme that
focuses on transparency in the supply chain, people and planet. Buying and
selling certified products is an important element of this programme. For
example, we have agreed that by 2025 at least 90% of our products will be
purchased from growers with sustainability certification. To achieve this, we
engage in continuous dialogue with growers about sustainable business practices
and organise meetings for growers. We are also proud to report that the sustainability
programme has been included in the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTI).
Only by joining forces and sharing knowledge can we make the world a little
greener and healthier. With our plants and flowers on the one hand, and on the
other by jointly pursuing sustainability objectives as trading companies and
supply chain partners. Such as the IRBC agreement for the floricultural sector,
in which we collaborate to make the entire sector more sustainable.
In addition, we are implementing
important sustainability measures to realise our ultimate ambition of fully
climate-neutral operations. One of these measures - installing solar panels on
our roof - has already had a positive effect. Thanks to solar panels and wind
power, all our energy now comes from green sources. Although we have made good
progress on our path to full sustainability, we have not yet reached our final
destination. We continue to develop and focus on aspects such as separating our
waste (recycling), ways to reduce packaging in our supply chain, etc. All with
the objective of making our organisation and industry as climate-neutral as
possible.
We also share our vision on
sustainability with the Green Heroes within Waterdrinker. The Green Heroes, a
group of enthusiastic employees, receive regular updates on all developments in
the field of sustainability. They can subsequently use this information to more
easily answer questions from customers, suppliers and colleagues, and also
react faster when giving feedback on current concerns to the CSR manager.
Together, we continue to work on implementing sustainable and social
improvements within Waterdrinker, the supply chain and the floricultural
sector: jointly moving towards an ever greener supply chain.
